Terms and Conditions


Welcome to Freedom24 Chess Masters LTD, a company registered in Cyprus with registration number HE 469982 (hereinafter "the Academy").

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the use of all services, programs, sessions, and offerings provided by Freedom 24 Chess Masters Ltd, whether accessed through our website (the "Site"), mobile or web applications ("Apps"), or through in person interactions.

Any individual who enrols in any of the Academy's services or makes a payment to the Academy -whether online or in person, or through any other means - is deemed to be a student (referred to as "you", "client/s", "user/s" or "student/s") and agrees to be bound by these Terms. These Terms apply to all our Academy programs, sessions, services, and offerings. Paragraph headings shall not affect the interpretation of these Terms and Conditions.


1. Our Mission and Principles
1.1 The Academy is committed to using chess as a means to promote intellectual development, critical thinking, and personal growth.
1.2 We operate under the guiding principles of inclusivity, respect, excellence, safety, and adherence to fair play.
1.3 While the Academy is not formally affiliated with the International Chess Federation ("FIDE"), we align our practices with the FIDE Charter and Code of Ethics, promoting fairness, inclusivity, and good sportsmanship.


2. Services Offered
2.1 The Academy provides a variety of services, including:
(a) Chess lessons (one to one and group lessons) for all levels, each with a duration of 45 to 90 minutes,
(b) Chess tournaments and events,
(c) External training and events services,
(d) Children's chess camps,
(e) Chess equipment sales,
hereinafter referred to as the "Services".

2.2 All Services are provided in line with our Code of Conduct as described in Section 6. Unless explicitly stated, no Service is presented as being officially affiliated with FIDE or any national chess federation.


3. Accounts and Passwords
3.1 While enrolment to Academy's events can be done via the phone or in person, in some cases in order to access certain Services, you may be required to create an account through our website. By creating an account, you agree to provide accurate, up-to-date information and to update your account as needed.

3.2 You are responsible for keeping your login credentials (username and password) secure and for all activities conducted under your account. The Academy is not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized access to your account due to your failure to safeguard your credentials.

3.3 You must notify us immediately at freedom24chess@gmail.com if you suspect or become aware of any unauthorized use of your account or any breach of security.

3.4 For users under 18, accounts must be managed or supervised by a parent or legal guardian, as this is defined further below, who assumes full responsibility for the account's use.

3.5 The Academy reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts in cases of misconduct or breach of these Terms.


4. Enrolment and Acceptance of Terms

4.1 Enrolment becomes effective upon receipt of payment. By making payment, you confirm your acceptance of these Terms, and of any additional terms specific to the booked service and of our Code of Conduct.

4.2 Upon your enrolment you authorise us to communicate with you for any matters relating to the Services you have enrolled such as timetabling, guidance and participation instructions etc.

4.3 We will not communicate with you for any marketing and advertising purposes unless you have consented to at the time of your enrolment.


5. Minors and Parental Consent

5.1 For students under 18, enrolment requires written consent from a parent or legal guardian (hereinafter "Guardians"). Guardians are responsible for disclosing relevant health or support needs, providing accurate emergency contacts, and acknowledging that the Academy does not assume responsibility for the supervision of minors outside of scheduled lesson hours.


6. Code of Conduct

All participants-whether students, Guardians, visitors, or staff-are expected to uphold a high standard of behaviour in line with the values of the Academy. This applies to all interactions, and modes oftraining.

6.1 General Expectations

(a) Treat all instructors, staff, fellow students, and guests with courtesy and respect;
(b) Respect cultural, personal, and skill-level differences in a supportive learning environment;
(c) Refrain from using offensive, discriminatory, or inflammatory language;
(d) Actively participate in lessons or activities, maintaining a constructive attitude;
(e) Follow instructions given by Academy staff, especially in matters related to safety and discipline;
(f) Avoid damage to property, including facilities, equipment, and digital tools provided by the Academy.


6.2 Tournaments and Events

Participants in tournaments and chess events must:

(a) Abide by fair play rules at all times;
(b) Follow the tournament director's instructions;
(c) Avoid distracting behaviour
(d) Respect match results and appeal procedures where applicable;
(e) Display good sportsmanship, regardless of win or loss.


6.3 The Academy reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any lesson, class, tournament, or session at its sole discretion. Such cancellation may be due to trainer unavailability, technical issues, insufficient enrolment, public safety concerns, or other operational reasons.


6.4 Where possible, reasonable advance notice will be provided to affected clients using the contact details on file. In such cases, the Academy will offer either an alternative session date or refund, as appropriate. The Academy is not liable for any direct or indirect losses resulting from such cancellations.

6.5 Group Sessions

6.5.1 To ensure a high-quality learning experience, the Academy aims to maintain small group sizes during lessons, events, and training sessions. This approach allows for more individualized attention, increased interaction, and a more effective learning environment for all participants.

6.5.2 While we strive to limit group sizes accordingly, final group composition may vary based on demand, age, and skill level. We aim that each group consists of
6-10 students.

6.5.3 The Academy reserves the right to adjust group sizes as reasonably necessary to deliver its programs efficiently.

6.5.4 Students and participants are allocated in groups based on their level. The level is assessed and determined on a free 15-minute tutorial.

6.5.5 Special discount and offers may be available for Group training sessions. More information about pricing can be found available on our website or by contacting us.


6.6 Children's Conduct and Supervision

6.6.1 Children attending lessons, camps, or events must be picked up and dropped off promptly by their Guardian.

6.6.2 Children must not leave the premises without permission or supervision.

6.6.3 The Academy not responsible for children outside the designated class or camp/lesson hours.

6.6.4 In the case of repeated disruptive or unsafe behaviour, the Academy reserves the right to suspend or terminate participation.

6.6.5 Guardians must disclose any medical conditions, allergies, behavioural considerations, or special needs that may affect their child's participation lessons, camps, or events. This includes information necessary to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.


6.7 Disciplinary Action

6.7.1 Serious or repeated breaches of our Code of Conduct may result in verbal written warnings, suspension, or termination of participation with forfeiture of fees already paid without refund. In cases involving safeguarding concerns, the Academy may report incidents to relevant authorities.


7. On-Site Rules and Premises Conditions

7.1 All visitors, students, and Guardians are required to respect the Academy's space and adhere to on-site rules.

7.2 While on premises, clients must comply with staff instructions regarding safety, order, and use of facilities. Smoking, consumption of alcohol, or use of unauthorized devices is strictly prohibited.

7.3 Children must remain in designated areas and are not permitted to leave the premises without express permission and supervision.

7.4 The Academy reserves the right to request any individual to leave the premises if their behaviour poses a disruption or safety concern.


8. No Guarantee of Results and Limitation of Liability

8.1 The Academy provides training, guidance and resource designed to support the development of chess knowledge and skills. However, your individual performance, progress and rankings depend on a variety of factors.

8.2 The Academy makes no guarantees, promises, or warranties regarding specific outcomes, improvements in performance, ratings, or rankings, including national or international chess standings. The Academy is not liable for any dissatisfaction or perceived lack of progress in a student's development.

8.3 Furthermore, to the extent permitted by law, the Academy shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss or damages arising out of or in connection with the use of our Services. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of opportunity, expected earnings, tournament prizes, or reputational damage.



9. Trainer Conduct and Academy Responsibility

9.1 The Academy takes reasonable care in the recruitment, vetting and supervision of its instructors and staff, aiming to maintain a safe and professional learning environment. All trainers are selected based on their qualifications, experiences and adherence to the values to the Academy.

9.2 However, the Academy cannot be held liable for any acts, omissions, misconduct, disqualification, or criminal conviction of any trainer or staff member, whether occurring prior to or during their engagement with the Academy. While the Academy undertakes reasonable monitoring and due diligence in good faith, it does not assume responsibility of personal actions of trainers beyond the scope of their official duties.

9.3 Should any such situation arise, the Academy will act promptly and appropriately in accordance with applicable laws and its internal safeguarding principles.



10. Pricing, Payment, and Refunds

10.1 Fees may be published on our website and/or can always be provided upon request. Payment is required in advance to confirm participation. Payments are accepted via bank transfer or cash.

10.3 Cancellations made at least 48 hours prior to a session may be eligible rescheduling or refund, depending on the service. Late cancellations or no-shows are for non-refundable.

10.4 If the Academy cancels an event or class, clients will be offered a reschedule or refund. Extended programs, such as camps or term-long courses, may be subject to specific refund policies, which will be communicated separately.


11.Intellectual Property

11.1 Allmaterials, video content, and teaching resources are the property ofthe Academy unless otherwise indicated. No content may be copied, distributed, recorded, or reused without the Academy's prior written consent.


12.Health and Safety

12.1 The Academy takes all reasonable efforts and as required by law, to ensure that any physical venues used by the Academy are safe, accessible, and staffed appropriately.

12.2 Participants must follow instructions related to safety protocols. The Academy bears no responsibility for accidents resulting from negligence, failure to follow instructions, or incidents outside of the Academy's operational hours.


13.Data Protection and Media Consent

13.1 Personal data is collected and processed in accordance with the GDPR and our Privacy Policy which can be found at the end of our Terms and Conditions under Appendix 1. Photos and video footage from events may be used for educational or promotional purposes.

13.2 Clients may opt out by notifying us in writing prior to participation.


14.Responsibility of Website Visitors

14.1 Users of our website agree to act lawfully, provide truthful information, and refrain from attempting to gain unauthorized access to restricted systems or data. Any misuse of the website may result in restriction or termination of access.


15.Content Posted on Other Websites

15.1 The Site may contain links to third-party platforms or resources, such as chess-playing sites or event partners. The Academy is not responsible for the accuracy, content, privacy practices, or terms of such external sites.


16.Modifications to the Terms

16.1 These Terms and Conditions may be revised periodically. The most current version will always be available on our website. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of any updates.


17.Dispute Resolution

17.1 We encourage users to raise concerns informally for swift resolution. Formal disputes should be submitted in writing to freedom24chess@gmail.com.


18. Indemnification

18.1 You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Academy, its directors, employees, and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses arising out of your use of the Services, your violation of these Terms and Conditions, or your infringement of any third-party rights.


19.Applicable Law

19.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus. Any legal dispute shall fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of Cyprus.
